Network Card help

  • I have an Inspiron 600m (service tag 8W8TY41) and I just had the hard drive replaced. Now I'm having trouble with my network card. My wireless card works fine, but when I try to plug directly into a wall port, it doesn't work. I don't have an icon on the taskbar that tells me a cable is unplugged-- I think it can't detect the wired card at all.

I wondered if I needed a new driver, but I can't find what kind of wired network card I have. When I log into Dell's site, all the network cards listed are wireless.

    Help?
  • Go here: http://support.dell.com/support/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

Put in your service tag and select 'Original system configuration' from the 'Select a Tool' pull down menu. That will tell you what card you have.

Go back, choose 'Drivers and Downloads' to download drivers for your devices.
  • This is the only network card listed:
K3444 CARD (CIRCUIT), NETWORK, MINI PCI CARD, INTEL2200, NOT APPLICABLE

When I look at the list of drivers & downloads, the only Intel2200 driver is:
    Intel (R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection

I had already downloaded and reinstalled that driver, and it didn't fix the problem. I thought it was because it was for the wireless card, and I'm having issues with the wired one.

I know I have some sort of wired network card, because I have the port on the back to plug the network cable in. If it's actually a 2-in-1 kind of card, is there something else that would be giving me these issues? A setting somewhere?
  • If you have the normal integrated 10/100 ethernet network adapter, the driver is at:

If you have the gigabit ethernet network adapter, the driver is at:

    http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/type.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_600M&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=2967&libid=5
