Dell Venue 8 pro

I have a Dell Venue Pro 8, i cracked my screen. When I look for a new screen, I have the option to but a screen or a digitizer. What is the digitizer? I don't want to buy the wrong part. Any help is appreciated.

  • I think I answered your other post, but is the screen cracked to the point it is unusable/odd colors/black etc or does it look correct (aside from the crack on top)? The digitizer is just the top portion of the screen (no LCD) that will take touch inputs when you use it. I have not looked up the guides on this system but have done it on other devices (phones/tablets) and depending on the work required it sometimes is easier to replace the LCD with Digitizer already attached if possible (depending on steps attaching the Digitizer correctly can be tricky), but this is up to you.  My advice/experience above is from me directly and not Dell etc. but I hope whichever decision you make to replace it that it goes well.

  • Thank you fit all of your help. It is just my digitizer. My screen looks fine other than the huge crack on it.  I will be attempting the repair soon.
