  • Forum Reply: Re: XPS 15z Audio Crackling/Stuttering (Wireless Connection Latency Issue)

James2k, Terry-B has responded to my message regarding this issue. He acknowledges that there is a problem and has brought it to the attention of Dell's engineering team (though, I'm not exactly sure if that will result in anything significant). I will attach the conversation below for those...
  • Forum Thread: Studio 1737 DPC Latency

Hello! My Studio 1737 is showing the DPC Latency problems described as in this thread: http://en.community.dell.com/forums/p/19245700/19411542.aspx Symptoms include periodic crackle and popping sounds during audio playback. The problem is most severe with wireless broadband enabled and disabling it...
  • Forum Reply: Re: Studio XPS 13" Audio Popping/Slow-Motion

I lost patience with mine. It only has the 5ms DPC spike, but I got fed up last week and bought a MacBook Pro. I am very happy with it! My like-new Xps is now on eBay and may sell for an unbelievably low price. If anyone is interested, here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item...
  • Forum Reply: Re: Studio 1737 DPC Latency

I'm not sure why the post from Happy Dayz disappeared, but Happy wrote: You mentioned that this took place before the A06 BIOS update, did you mean the A09 BIOS update, as that has recently been released and although it did reduce the DPC latency spikes, it has not resolved the problem and...
  • Forum Reply: Re: Studio 1737 DPC Latency

Hans, Let us know if you have any luck with DJ Quartz's fix, but I'd also recommend that you (and anyone else lurking on the thread) contact Dell support describing your problems with audio on the 1737. Dell is more likely to address this problem if they know it's affecting a large number...
  • Forum Reply: Re: How about that latency problem with studio laptops?

stan_-_ same problems with my Latitude E6510. Latency Checker shows up to 2000 ms delays all 60-100 sek. Frustrating... Hi everyone, I have a Latitude E6510, and I've finally (after much trial and error) managed to solve the DPC latency spike issue! Combining the DPC Latency...
  • Forum Reply: Re: Studio 1737 DPC Latency

Brief update for anyone else experiencing or researching this issue. I contacted Dell support, explaining my problem with DPC latency, and linking to various sources of information online. Here's an excerpt from Dell's response: I have checked with my research team regarding the issue and...

  • Forum Reply: Re: XPS 15z Audio Crackling/Stuttering (Wireless Connection Latency Issue)

James2k, Thank you for this post. I have been communicating with ShonkyCH from a different forum (attached at the end of this post) to try and get this resolved. Like ShonkyCH, I too had the Centrino 6230 replaced. In my case, the WiFi card was replaced WITH A NEWER REVISION of the same card. Unfortunately...
  • Forum Reply: Re: Studio 1737 DPC Latency

Thanks Quartz! I'm really hoping I can stay on a 64-bit OS but if August comes around with no fix I'll likely follow your lead and downgrade to XP. Or get a Mac.
  • Forum Reply: Re: XPS 15z Audio Crackling/Stuttering (Wireless Connection Latency Issue)

@James2k A few months ago, I had an XPS 15 which I later traded for my XPS 15z (the one I'm using now). The XPS 15 had the same Centrino 6230 card as my XPS 15z and never had the crackling audio problem on a Wireless-G network . However, I never had the chance to test it on a Wireless-N network...
