Unable to verify Service Tag

This question is not answered

I bought a Dell Vostro 5460 from Thailand with international warranty on 22 July 2013. Now when I'm trying to register my product by entering the service tag, the following message is being displayed:

"We were unable to verify the Service Tag or Express Service Code you have entered. Please verify your entry or choose a product category below. If you recently purchased a system, please try again in 48 hours."

Please help me resolve this issue.

  • Hi adityapopli,

Did you purchase the system online or from a retailer?

If you have purchased it from retailer/store, then the first steps is to register your system with Dell. Click on the link http://dell.to/14M28kE -> choose the country, follow the on-screen instructions.

Once your system system is registered, you would need to fill ownership transfer form so that your system can be transferred to your current location. Here is the link http://dell.to/15F3ruU.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • I purchased it from a retailer and I am unable to register my laptop. It says invalid service tag.

  • Hi adityapopli,

Once you click on the link http://dell.to/14M28kE -> choose the country as Thailand and follow the prompts to register your computer. Also check if the service tag on the bar-code and in BIOS (F2 at startup) is same.

  • I followed your instructions but still no luck. The service tag on the bar code and in bios is same but when I enter it online, it says 'Service Tag Invalid'.

What should I do now? Please help.

  • ??

  • You'll need to contact the retailer.  Some sell "grey market" systems that are obtained through unofficial channels.

  • Hi adityapopli,

As ejn63 said, you may contact the retailer. In case the issue is not resolved, send me the following information via private message (click my username and then click Start Conversation). I will see if anything can be done from my end.

    - Service Tag of the computer.
    - Name as it appears on the account.
    - Since you have bought the system from a retailer, share the name of the retailer and a copy of the invoice.
    - Email address.

    Thanks & Regards,
