Screen black upon startup and remains backlit but no image, with power light on.

This question is not answered
I have a dell studio 1535 and about 2 months ago I had dropped my fists on the bottom corners on it, in frustration, and ever since then the screen is black. The back light is on and I see a brightened black screen. The fan starts up and I hear the hard drive start up. The indicator light for the hard drive flashes normally, but no screen but the backlight. I don't have the means to have it professionally looked at as of right now, and would like advice as to what I should try before I through in the towel and have someone fix it and charge me $200 for pushing a few buttons if i can do it myself. I appreciate any and all help. I just hope for good news. Thank you!

In case of faulty hardware needing replacement, you may need to contact our Out-of-Warranty Support department (if based in the US/Canada) by clicking on  the link below. The limited hardware warranty does not cover intentional damage to the system.
