How to change boot order to the CD drive in Dell Inspiron 3520 please?

This question is not answered

Hello, this laptop has win8, I am trying to load win7 on this laptop but I am not understanding how to change the boot order to boot from the cd drive, what's listed below is what I am seeing in SETUP, help?

Boot list option [UEFI]
File browser ADD boot option
File browser Del boot option
Secure boot [Enabled]
Load legacy option rom [Disabled]

Boot option priorities
Boot option #1 [Windows boot manager]
Boot option #2 [UEFI OS]
Boot option #3 [UEFI IP4 Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller]
Boot option #4 [UEFI IP6 Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller]

Also, my research is showing this is a 64 bit unit, can anyone please confirm this? Thanks/

  • Hi mikehende,

Follow below steps to change the boot order:

Restart the computer and tap F2 on Dell logo. Under” BOOT” Option ensure Boot list option is set to “Legacy”.

Now scroll down to 1st Boot Priority and change it to CD/DVD/CD-RW and 2nd Boot priority to Hard drive.

Hit F10 to “Save” the settings and then Exit.

Install windows 7 on the computer using the following link:

Click on the above link and change the Operating system to windows 7.

    Awaiting your response!

    Thanks & Regards

  • Bear in mind that to install Windows 7 on this system, you will need to delete all the existing partitions on the drive and create new ones.  BEFORE you do this use a USB flash drive of 16G or larger to create a Dell recovery image of the Windows 8 setup if you ever want to go back to Windows 8.
