Since a couple of days I can't dimm the screen on my XPS15, the FN key is working fine, it simply doesn't respond to fn F4/F5 or all the other options to manage screen brightness.
I'm using the NVIDIA GT420M; I5; 4GB ram; 1366X768 version.
What I have done so far:
- Using the slider in the windows mobilitycenter
- MSCONFIG: put everything on.
- Power management settings.
- System Restore.
- Looked for it in the BIOS, but couldn't find any screen related setting.
- Used the dell diagnostics tool.
- Updated both GPU: (NVIDIA GT 420M and the Intell integrated chipset).
I've managed to find the culprit, it was TeamViewer, I unistalled it using RevoUninstaller on the thoroughest setting, then rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted again to see that everything is working.
A real thanks to DELL-Royan S for helping.
Welcome to the Community. I suggest you uninstall and reinstall Dell Quickset. To uninstall, click on start, control panel, programs and features and uninstall Dell Quickset. Once its removed, or if its not installed on your computer, use the below link to install it.
Hope this helps
That didn't help me, yet thanks for the suggestion.
I scanned for viruses with COMODO and IOBIT (as 2nd opinion) both of them came up negative for viruses....
Did you uninstall and reinstall Dell Quickset? I have seen this issue, and uninstalling and reinstalling the software helped.
You had suggested that, yet again I appreciate your help.
The only thing that changed was that the mobilitycenter slider was recallibrated to 89%. But it still doesn't respond to the FN+F4/5 or all the other possibilities to change the backlight intensity.
Is there any chance this could be a faulty piece of hardware missed by the Dell Diagnostics tool?
