The screen on our Inspiron N5010 has suddenly gone very bright and has poor contrast. At startup before windows loads the screen seems to be flickering.
When in windows I have gone into control panel and tried to change the brightness and other relevant controls but these make little difference. I have updated and reloaded all the relevant video drivers from both DELL and Intel and updated the bios but that has all made no difference. I have run the suggested hardware diagnostics and no problems have been identified.
Currently i have the laptop attached to our digital tv via the HDMI cable, but otherwise the laptop is almost unusuable as it is almost impossible to see what is on the screen.
Please does anyone have any suggestions for other ways to resolve this? Inevitably the laptop is 14 months old so just out of warranty :-(
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
If the image externally is OK, try reseating both ends of the cable that runs between the mainboard and display panel. if that doesn't solve the problem, replace the display panel.
Do I have to access the main board by removing the keyboard and opening up the case etc to do this, or is there an easier access method? Just checking before I get the screwdriver out!
I assume this guide is what I need?
