Considering replacing main HDD with SSD on Dell XPS 17 (L702X), but what drive?

This question is answered

I want to upgrade my hard drive with a SSD in my XPS 17 (L702X), but looking at the range of SSD drives it's hard to figure out what is best.

I think I've settled on a OCZ 128GB drive, but I don't know if I can get a SATA 3.0 version or not for my laptop. I could be safe and go for SATA II, but I'd hate to miss out on performance just for being safe.

Can anyone confirm if I can use SATA 3.0?

Also, are there any suggestions or warnings re using SSD in my XPS?

Cheers.

James.

  • Yes, you can use SATA 3.0 (6G).  It is fully supported by the chipset in that system.
