Please help me for driver donwload link (Latutude E6420) for 2 items
- Broadcom USH
- Mass Storage Controller
The Mass Storage Controller that is Missing from the Windows 7 x 64 edition is from the following. This is in relation to the Hardware ID listed below from OSMicro.
I am having issues as well, and am not an expert but I haven't been able to locate the driver for the following items either. I am using Windows 7 64 bit on a Dell Latitude E6420. Any help would be great, I am trying to get this running for my daughter to take to school. Thanks in advance!
Hi, I think I found a solution to one of your problems, namely the mass storage controller:
The following driver is available on the Dell website, for Windows XP.
I have the same problem with the unrecognized Broadcom USH device, under XP Pro SP3 that is.
Also I have the Contacted Smartcard device of which I'm unable to locate the correct driver for.
Hope this helps.
For Broadcom USH:
again this is for Windows XP PRO SP3.
Broadcom = Controlvault driver (Not firmware) (click on the .msi file to run)
Mass Storage = I also believe it is the mass storage driver
Smart card = I believe i got from MS Updates when i applied them.
I was able to succesfully get the driver to take for the Broadcom USH by installing Dell_Data-Protection---Acces_A00_R288908
This was for the driver w/o Fingerprint Sensor on Win 7 32 bit
The Data Protection Access driver worked for me also.
I am wondering if anyone has been able to deploy this driver in a software package through SCCM Task Sequence. I have been unsuccessful.
If you haven't gotten an answer for this yet, try installing the O2 Micro Integrated Card reader, I battled for ours reading about the Intel rapid store driver bring the issue. In this case i think it is not, see link below:

Try this for the storage drivers http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/555/DriverDetails/Product/latitude-e6420?driverId=KC9W0&fileid=2731102815 and then for the others go to support.dell.com put in your service tag and find the finger reader drivers. You may not have a finger print reader, but some times dell machines still want the driver.
Thank you!! That worked, the is an unkown device still but the control vault item is working now, I was able to update it to the most up to date firmware as well.
Would you happen to know why the system is showing only 3.88 Gig of RAM is usable when it is a 64 bit OS? I wanted to increase the RAM to 8 Gig but don't want to waste the money if there is some reason it won't work. Is there something I have to set in the BIOS? Again thank you for the help.
Did you upgrade from a version of 32bit?
Yes, it was a 32 bit that was on there before Win 7 32
1) A 32-bit OS can only address 4GB or memory
2) I believe the O2M driver is under the "Drivers for OS Deployment"
3) For broadcom USH drivers, you want to install the firmware then the drivers under DDPA/Data Protections.
Sometimes, due to the type of graphics processor the laptop has, memory has to be allocated from the available physical ram for it. This is most likely the reason why you see 3.88GB instead of the full 4GB. Adding more ram would not be an issue and would be definitely seen by the OS, you would just have access to 7.88 instead of 8GB which would not impact on the system's overall performance.
For Windows 7 64bit version, go there :
