  • instead of floundering around it is always best to read the instructions   http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?docid=347576

    my Dells:
    Optiplex 3020 - Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
    Precision M6300 - Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
    Precision M6300 - Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa / Ubuntu 12.04.5 dual-boot
    Latitude D620 - XP Pro SP3

  • Yes i have tried all of these first I am not totally stupid but thanks for your help anyway

none of these instructions work for me and i do not have any of the original disks otherwise i would restore myself

  • Not everyone thinks you are stupid! I do not know why some get on message boards to insult people! Try contacting Dell and requesting a set of backup discs!
