my original hard drive broke (warranty covered it) so Dell sent me a new hard drive which included a cage and bezel. I correctly attached the cage and bezel to the hard drive but when I try to put it in the laptop, it doesn't go in all the way. I'm pretty sure it is the hard drive itself because I tried the new hard drive with the old bezel and cage but still didn't fit. My old hard drive still slides in fine with the new and old cage/bezel. Anyone know what to do?
Compare the back of both drives - if they're not the same, the new one may have an interposer attached - just pull it off.
Did you ever figure this out? I just put a new drive in a 1545 and the laptop doesn't see it with the drive cage installed but does if the drive site freely in the slot (which I obviously can't leave it like that).
