Dell Inspiron 1525 windows vista basic won't startup!!!

This question is not answered

Hello,

Please, I kindly need an assistance with my "baby"...My laptop won't startup and Windows cannot repair the error automatically. I have chosen advance system recovery options but still I am not getting a positive response. I used the system restore but it doesn't work too.

I don't want to use the Dell factory restore because I have no backup files and I don't want to loose really valuable files on it. Please, what assistance can I get from you guys?

  • Step 1:  Purchase an external drive case, remove the hard drive, mount it in the case and attach it to a working system.  Back up what you can read.

    For example:

Then return the drive to the system once you have a backup.  DO NOT proceed without one.

Then power on, press F12, load the Dell diagnostics and run the EXTENDED - NOT just the quick - hard drive test.

The drive will likely fail - in which case, replace it with a new 2.5" 9.5 mm SATA notebook drive, and reload Windows.  If you don't have a Windows disc, you can order one:
