In case anyone has missed it, the latest releases of the BIOS firmware for the Inspiron Mini 9 do now have F11 / F12 functionality (starting from bios revision A01)
They have been mapped to:
Fn + Z = F11
Fn + X = F12
Current BIOS release A02 is here:

Looking at this post re BIOS updates on Linux, there seem to be several possible methods:
Not sure which (if any) will actually work though - I don't have Linux, so can't help there...
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Because I had no F11 key I had used the Full SCreen (F11) option in the View menu but I couldn't get back!! I was SO frustrating! - even MORE frustrating than having had my apostrope key moved and everytime I think I type an apostrophe I hit ENTER!! Other than those 2 things so far I like this little computer. However - I would NOT recommend it because that movement of the apostrphe is really going to affect my performance.
THANKS AGAIN for helping me out of that glitch! I wasted way too many hours on that silly thing that could easily have been avoided with some forethoght on Dell
s part - there - see what I mean!!
