Daughter's new, out of the box, Inspiron 3520 laptop. Showed error message "Fatal Error has occurred. Restoring Vital Data. 0% finished." then it crashed and went black screen. Will not restart now, power and hard drive lights flash, but no other progress. Occasional short (1-2 seconds) spinning of hard drive is heard.
Any thoughts? Still in warranty, but would love it if this could be resolved without that hassle.
Oh yeah, running windows 8 (and might I say, yuck.)
You can try the Dell diagnostics (F12 at powerup) but it's likely going to be easier to just exchange the unit for a working one.
