I just received my XPS L702x, and noticed that it only has 1 USB slot, is that the way its supposed to be? There are 3 empty slots on the left side of the laptop. They are marked as USB but they are empty like a card was not put in. The only one I have is on the right side which is a combination usb/esata slot. Is that the way its supposed to be or should I contact tech support?
There should be two USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0/eSATA combo ports
There isn't. There is 3 empty slots on the left side of the laptop and only 1 usb slot that is also an esata slot which is on the right side. there are cut outs for the usb ports, but no port in it. should I call tech support?
There should be one USB/ESATA on the right side, one USB 2.0 on the left side and two USB 3.0 in the back.

the 2 usb 3 slots are on the rear next to the power brick inport
So then I should call tech support since the 2 near the the power supply and 1 on the right?
sorry, 2 by power supply and 1 on the left are empty slots.
by empty do you mean there is no connector within for a usb cable?? if so yes call support.. Have you tried plugging in a usb device into them to see if they work??
Yeah, its just an empty space, I tried plugging in a usb mouse to all 3 slots and it just rattles around.

If the ports are really missing somebody in Quality control must have fallen asleep or not doing his/her job properly.
For sure - I would know what to do in such a case.......
Sounds more likely the ports are there but the cable on the mouse is damaged.
The usb ports on the back are USB 3, you should see a blue color bar in them.. If you don't have them I'd call and get a replacement unit or at least get them to fix it. Micro test is right if there not there somebody screwed up building it. good luck and let us know what happens.
Nothing wrong with the mouse, the 3 ports are just an empty cavern, I have called tech support and they are sending a tech with a new motherboard. I will let you know what he says, cause its extremely weird that if they did any kind of QA, they would have caught usb slots completely missing.
You are better off returning the system for replacement rather than having the board replaced. Within the first 21 days after shipment, you can ask for a replacement system.
Totally agree with ejn63 !
