Studio 1558 - i5-450M
OS : Windows 7 Home Premium.
I am kind of confused, since the Dell website says that I can 8GB maximum, but a software I installed says that I have 2 memory slots already used.
I don't want to open the computer, so is it possible to upgrade the RAM and is there any kind of specific RAM I should use ?
First, you must have a 64-bit version of Windows - if you have a 32-bit version, it won't support more than 4G of RAM.
You will need to replace one or both of your 2 gig memory modules with a 4-gig.
The correct memory type is here:
Buy RAM from Crucial.com
Most laptops only have 2 memory slots and usually filled when the laptop leaves the factory.
If you want 8GB, you will need to have 4GB + 4GB.
