Studio 1537 - Flashing lights

Answered (Verified) This question is answered

Hi all,

I've been looking around for an answer to this but can't find one that's specific to this, unless i'm being seriously blind.

I updated my laptop a few days ago, and after a reboot the machine will now not even turn on.

As soon as I put the battery in or plug the power cable in; the power, battery, and wifi(i think, it's opposite the power button on the other side of the laptop) lights continously flash and i can not do anything else. If i press any of the touch buttons when the laptop is open they just flash also.

I've held down the power button, tried a different AC adapter and battery, reseated the memory and it still flashes like an eppys worst nightmare.

I'm starting to think the motherboard is, in technical terms, knackered. I don't think it's the hard drive as i've had to take the files off it as it has all my college work on there.

Shall I have it sent back to Dell to fix? I have 580 days left on a 5 Day Consumer Hardware Support.

I'm also wondering how much this is all going to cost me..

Any help much appreciated.

  • Hi Livett360,

Welcome to the Community. Based upon the Diagnostic LED's which is all flashing means a system board component is faultt, so its a motherboard failure. Since you have 580 days left on your warranty. I suggest you call Dell Technical support in your region for a motherboard replacment. This would be covered under your warranty.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you
