02F0 CPU ID: 01 Failed

This question has suggested answer(s)

I've had this problem for quite some time but usually it would solve itself by resetting my laptop. But now I've reseted it like 5 times and the problem still persists. I tried resetting BIOS to defaults but it didn't help.

This problem is really annoying since my laptop's performance really falls for quite a factor. So I hope I can get some constructive feedback. I have a Vostro 1720

Thank you,

  • If you've upgraded the CPU, it looks like the one you've installed is not supported.  If it's the original, it looks like the CPU has failed.

  • I didn't upgrade my CPU. But what do you mean by "it looks like CPU has failed"... I mean I know that -.-

  • Try a reset.   Remove the battery, unplug the system and hold the power button for 30 seconds.   Power up again - if the same error occurs, try reseating (remove and reinstall) the CPU.  When you do this, you should (must!) replace the heatsink pad that interfaces the CPU to the heatsink - once the seal is broken, the pad must be replaced.

Failing that, you need a new CPU or mainboard.

  • Hello

I have an Acer Extensa 5630EZ laptop. I get exactly the same error message. It can be quite an expensive step if the CPU is not at fault. Are there any other steps that can ensure it is the only possibility?

  • I'va also the same error for Del STUDIO. Any suggestion?

  • Hi Alizadeh91,

Here are few steps that you can follow that might work on your computer:

Drain out the flea power of system:

    • Power off your computer.
    • Please remove the AC adaptor and battery of your computer.
    • Press and hold the power button of your computer for 10-15 seconds to drain out the residual power.
    • Release the power button.
    • Insert the battery in and connect the AC adaptor.
    • Then try powering on the computer and see if it works.

If the issue still persists, you can load the BIOS defaults following the steps below:

    • Restart the computer.
    • As soon as you see the blue Dell logo start tapping the ‘F2’ key which is at the top of the keyboard.
    • If you wait too long and the Microsoft Windows appears, then continue to wait until you see the Windows desktop. Now shutdown your computer and try again.
    • After this a new window will appear which is the BIOS. You can only use the arrow keys of the keyboard to navigate between the options as the mouse is not functional in this mode.
    • Press F9 and F10.
    • Restart your computer.

You can also update the BIOS of your computer.
Note: Make sure the ac adapter is connected and the battery is charged 10% or above to update the BIOS. Also, disconnect all the external peripherals before updating the BIOS. All the programs should be closed and documents saved.

    Steps to download BIOS:
    • Click on the below link: http://dell.to/OukFUO
    • Enter the Service Tag of your system and select the operating system.
    • Go to “BIOS” and click on the BIOS available.
    • Click on “Download File”.
    • Select “For Single File Download via Browser”.
    • Click on “Download Now”.
    • Save the BIOS on your desktop.
    • Once the BIOS is downloaded on the desktop, right click on it and select “Run as administrator”.
    • Follow the prompts on screen and restart your computer.

If the issue still persists, it is an issue with the Processor of computer and might need replacement. I have added you as a friend.
