Maximum size of hard drive on Dell xps M1530

This question has been answered by ejn63

Hi

I need to replace my hard drive on my Dell XPS M1530.
I have read this post: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/disk-drives/f/3534/t/19325147.aspx

I have tried to find what kind of moderboard I have. Cant find any info about that. I have logged in to dell which seems to show everything but the name of the moderboard, and I have used Aida32 which says its called "Dell Inc M1530".
Do I need that in order to know the maximum size for a new hd?

The post above is 2 years newer than my xps (bought july 2008), so maybe it has another moderboard.
So, does this apply to me as well: Max 9.5mm high, and 500 GB for the 7200 rpm?

Thanks....

  • It has to be 2.5" and 9.5 mm or slimmer.  There are now 1T drives in that format (Samsung, WD) that will work - but if you want 7200 rpm, 500G is as big as you can get.
