XPS M170 synaptics touchpad problem

  • Hi,

I have searched all over the net and have not found an answer to this. When my m170 is running on battery the pointer icon moves as it should. If the xps is plugged into the ac adapter the touchpad registers the "touch" (the synaptics icon at the bottom registers green like it always does) but the pointer icon will not move. This is driving me nuts as I have to keep unplugging the xps when the battery is low to get the pointer to move. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried to update the synaptics driver to see if it woule help and it showed no difference.

  • Welcome to the forums :smileyhappy:

Sonds like you've done everything you can (or we could suggest), so you're probably best now contacting Dell tech support, to see what they suggest?

It may require a replacement touchpad, in which case they'll send a technician to replace it for you ;)

From experience, I've found that:   “Beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder”!!
