Thanks. The solution was too create a slip stream installation of XP that includes SP2. Everything works fine now.
I am getting this exact same error when trying to perform a RIS installation of a D620 image and I can't seem to get past it.
EDIT: I should probably be a little more clear.
I've gotten past the NIC issue and am able to connect to the RIS server, it starts to copy the setup files for the image and gets to the point where it says "setup is starting Windows" but then pops to the blue screen with the error.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

My laptop "image" is before I riprep and send it to the server, but the original CD used for the RIS setup was XP SP1 and I'm not seeing a way to upgrade it, nor do I have a VL CD with SP2, just the upgrade CD's and it won't let me use an upgrade CD.
I fear I may be hosed for now, but if you have ideas please share.
