I have a VOSTRO 1310 ..
I was listening music,then for no reason sound stopped from my internal speaker on (25th nov 09) .
I checked my driver properties, "It is working Properly"
I also reinstalled my driver, but there is no sound from the internal speaker.
I'd check it in my both OS's Ubuntu 9.10 and Vista business
So can anybody have any idea what had happened to my speaker and how to solve it..
Sound comes from your sound card--integrated or separate--not your internal speaker. Are your headphones plugged in correctly and working? Try them on another device or add external speakers.

Do you mean that although you have no sound from the built-in speakers you still do have sound from the headphone jack (through headphones or external speakers)?

Do you mean that literally? What else is the internal speaker for?

yes. I can hear sound from the headphone.

That does not necessarily mean anything because it could be corrupted. Try reinstalling the audio driver. If that does not fix the problem then there is a possibility that there is a defect in the headphone jack that is causing the computer to think there is a plug in the jack and preventing the audio signal from getting to the speaker. Try inserting a plug into the jack and very gently wiggling it back and forth. Sometimes that will restore functionality. If it does not and you have reinstalled the driver with no luck, then contact Dell about a repair if you are still under warranty. They might make you use Dell Diagnostics to test the speaker function. If the problem is a bad jack it will pass the test because the problem would be in a bad sense pin (senses when a plug is inserted) that Dell Diagnostics was not designed to test. The only other diagnostic for a bad sense pin is to use Factory Image Restore. If you have the same symptoms afterward then it is definitely a bad pin.
