  • My service tag for the Poweredge R720 is 1H76XV1.  A few weeks ago, our building cut power without notifying us. I now have three  R720 servers that all have the back System ID button at the extreme left flashing amber. The front indicator that normally shows the  service tag of the unit is lit but no service tag # appears.

The fans seem to be running at a higher speed that produces more noise.

When I reboot the servers, I receive an Idrac initialization warning error. "Continuing to boot may yield unexpected power loss due to unknown power inventory and various features lost such as remote access, active power management, thermal management, inventory, lcd or system error reporting".

I then have the option to press the F1 key to continue or F2 to run system setup program. F1 will boot the system into Windows and the OS is OK.  I have tried shutting down the unit, disconnecting the 2 power input cables and holding down the power button and the system ID button at  the front of the unit, reconnecting power and restarting, but this has no effect.

My Bios version is 1.3.6 and is an old version.

My Idrac settings version is 1.00.84.

On the Dell website, for my unit, I see downloads for Bios version 2.5.4.

IDrac Dell Life Cycle Controller V3.3, IDrac with Lifecycle Controller v. 2.41.40.40 and IDrac7  1.66.65.

Which of these should I install and in what order to get my servers back to normal?  Can I install more than one before I reboot?

Finally,  do I risk any damage to my fans in each server by waiting to run these updates?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
