I have an Inspiron 530S with a CD/DVD tray that doesn't want to close! I've run the PC Diagnostic twice, re-downloaded the driver....nothing seems to help. Anyone have an ideas?
The diagnostics are for testing things, not fixing them. When you ran the diagnostics, you should have had a data disc in the drive. Does your drive stay closed when you run the diagnostics?
Please post back and let me know if you need more help.
Thanks osprey4...the tray will not stay closed, even with a disc in it. Just keeps popping open. I ran the diagnostics hoping that it would tell me what was wrong with the tray...I thought it was a driver issue, but I downloaded the latest to no avail...
Time for a new drive, I'm thinkin'. Your system requires a standard SATA type DVD burner. I'm pretty sure it's a standard 5 1/4" desktop drive, like this one.
I appreciate the help, thank you
This is the recommended replacement part...16X Half-Height Serial ATA DVD±RW Drive
Ok, but the drive is SATA, not ATA (also known as IDE).
Serial ATA = "S" ATA = SATA
