Inspiron E1705 CD-ROM/DVD drive not working

  • Disc drive FUJITSU MHV2080BH not working at all.....doesn't come up on my computer and the drive won't open.  However it says that the drive is working properly in the Device Manager, can anyone help?

    Thanks,

    Nate

  • A FUJITSU MHV2080BH is a Hard Drive.  Look in the Device Manager .........

Start | Control Panel | System in classic view | Hardware tab | Device Manager

Click on the (+) next to DVD/CD-ROM drives.  This will reveal the Brand and Model of
    drive.  Please post that.

  • FUJITSU MHV2080BH is the only device that comes up under Disk Drives

There is no DVD/CD-ROM drive on the list.

  • ASSEMBLY..., DVD+/-RW..., 8X, IDE (INTEGRATED DRIVE ELECTRONICS) ..., NEC CORPORATION..., INSPIRON...

This is what my account at Dell says I have for a CD/DVD-ROM

  • When a drive does not appear in the Device Manager, it means Window does
not see it.  The usual cause is a poor contact or connection.  Physically
remove the drive from the system and inspect the connetions.  Reinstall
the drive in an effort to improve the connection.

It is a link from your manual and works for me.  Here is a link to all Dell Manuals ....
