I have been trying to reformat my hard drive on my 3 year old studio 1555 laptop. However when I press F 12 to go to the boot menu so that I can boot from my disk drive with vista it locks up and I have to force shut down. I then tried reinstalling windows vista through vista itself to see if maybe my old version of vista was causing the lock up. This didn't work and either and it still locked up. So now I am down to only 5gbs of disk space two installs of vista and I am no closer to wiping my hard drive. Are there any solutions or any other way to wipe my HDD? Thanks for the help.
Try changing the boot order in bios so that cdrom comes before hdd and try again.
