Ok, so I recently installed some of microsofts windows updates. However, it has caused a Code 19 Error with the drivers for my DVD drive. I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall the drivers, same error. I have downloaded the new firmware for my drive, but I can't even do the flash because the program to flash cannot find the drive so I cannot do an update. Has anyone else had any problems like this or can possibly give me some information on how to fix this issue?
I'm running Windows XP Proffessional
Your driver is fine. It is a generic one from Microsoft that alloptical drives use. Firmware is not a driver and is not the problem. You likely have a Filters issue. The article below has instructions for editing the Registry to remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters. Upon reboot, Windows will write them correctly. Below the picture there is a utility that will do it for you. Give this a try.http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=106

All this does is what I've already been doing. . .uninstalls the drivers, and re-installs them. I still get the same error. What I probably need is a way to manually install the drivers from Dell's website that I downloaded, but the installation program can't see the drive so that I can do a firmware flash. . .I do not know how to fix this.
thank you, that did fix the problem
