My dad recently bought a used Optiplex 745 desktop computer from his
work it only came with a 40 gig hard drive so im just trying to put a
new drive in there. Just following the instructions from users guide i
managed to get the DVD drive out but there is no floppy drive so it has
been replaced by a metal insert which i cant figure out how to remove.
It seems to be stuck in place and the screws look impossible to get to
without taking the whole thing apart. Any help would be greatly
*last post was deleted because i wrote screw with ed on the end.
See if these instructions help. <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>
Yes, the "*** filter" is a bit sensitive to certain words. Believe it or not, it used to be worse.
Please post back and let me know if you need more help.
Thansk for the reply. yep i followed those instructions to get the DVD out no problem them i got stumped at the next part as their is a metal casing for where the floppy drive bay is. Heres a pic of the area that ive circled in red.
So no ideas?
Your picture is good but I can only go by what the manual shows. The insert should be removable.
Not sure if you found a solution to this yet, but the blue lever which releases the optical drive, releases that plate. Just pull up hard while simultaneously pulling towards the back of the system on the plate and it should release. Took me awhile to figure it out too.
I signed up for the forum just to say thanks to sla161 for this. I was stumped by this insert too. Kudos!
