I have a Dell XPS 400. I experienced an OS failure and could not recover using the repair option. I added another SATA hd copied my data using Norton Ghost 10 and deleted the partition with Windows installed on it using the Windows Setup option. I used the setup option to run a full format of the partition to change it to NTFS. Now when I boot the system I recieve
Windows Could Not Start Because of a Computer Disk Hardware Configuration Problem
Windows Media Center Edition 2005
There is an Intel Array installed 0 Raid1 Status normal bootable yes strip n/a
Port 0 149 GB WDD SATA
Port 2 149 GB WDD SATA
With the windows set up I can see the following information
-: Partition1[FAT] 55MB 47MB free
C: Partition2[NTFS]147252MB 146667MB free
J: Partition3[FAT32]5271MB 132MB free
I also booted to recovery console from the restore cd
It recognized two windows installations
I have tried running the bootcfg /rebuild option from both of these as well as the fixmb and fixboot commands
I can view my boot.ini file from Norton Ghost J:\Boot.ini
\WINDOWS="Windows Media Center Edition 2005"
\WINDOWS="Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005"
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Please disregard after I read my own post I realized my error. Thanks!
