  • Forum Post: Optiplex GX270 New CPU, won't boot

    I have a dell optiplex gx270 SMT with a socket 478 P4 2.40 GHz processor. I decided to upgrade it and bought a P4 3.0 CPU installed it now the tower won't boot. I have a steady amber light with no beeps. It should be compatible with the motherboard. and my BIOS is up to date, version A07.

    Hi used a new gx280 about 2years but now it is discusting my pc gives me amber light and fan run like jet but when i restart 5 to 20 time quickly its run as normallY. winodws load and run perfect but few days i had this same problem that it gives solid amber light But fan runs slow..... all devices work...

    I heard that dell was thinking about using Google plus for support i think this is a great idea. The video chat feature would be like text support on steroids, making it a lot faster and easier to find a solution to your problem copy and paste this in a new forum if you think dell should use Google plus...
