I am trying to setup a dual monitor system using a projector as the second monitor, but I'm not having much success. I purchased a "DVI to 2 VGA Splitter Cable (SW-6095)" from sewelldirect.com, but all the projector will display is the current desktop. It will not allow me to extend to a second monitor. In fact the software for the video card will not allow me to enable the 2nd monitor. I'm wondering if the splitter cable I purchased is not the correct kind or if there is something else I am not doing correctly. My pc is a new Vostro 200. I am setting this up in my church, so that's why I'm trying to have the projector as my second monitor.
Any help will be appreciated...
The HD 2400 sold by Dell does not allow you to extend your desktop to another monitor. This is unfortunate and sadly is a posted issue far too often. If you were to have the "normal" HD2400 (not manufactured to Dell's specs) it would have come with a DMS-59 output which would have allowed you to split into two separate DVI-D outputs with extended desktop capabilities. As you currently stand, you can only split your video output into two clones of the same image.
You will need a video card upgrade to do what you are aiming to do.
