  • ok ... i checked out the specs on the dimension e521 and you have a lots of options as you have a PCIe x16 slot   ... i would not suggest the old x1300 that the other person suggested ... the nvidia 6150 built in to your motherboard is about the same power so you would see almost no increase in performance.

I would suggest AMD/ATI 5570 or 6570 as they are a semi modern card and will run most games up to like medium settings and cost WAY less than the old outdated x1300 that was suggested.  A lot depends on your CPU too ... if you have a dual core athlon you will have pretty good results with the cards i suggested ... if you have a single core CPU you will see a moderate increase in performance.

I wouldn't go too crazy though with a HD 6670 or the new HD 7750 as i don't know if your CPU could keep up with them.  The 5570 or 6570 are solid choices to see some improvement.

  • This is $115, but it doesn't require a PCIe connector, it has a quiet fan, and it's more powerful than the 6750.

You likely could have gotten away with using your original power supply.
