Dell Dimension 8400 blower fan

Any one got any imfo on the above, started making loud noises and have had trouble locating replacment

  • Which fan are you referring to?  The CPU cooling fan? or the fan in the power supply?   The CPU cooling fan is a Dell proprietary fan and you need to replace it with a new Dell fan.  The Dell fan has additional electronics and if a non-Dell fan is used you will always get a "Fan Failure" at boot up and will have to press F1 to continue. 

    If it's the fan in the power supply, best to just replace the power supply, which is a standard ATX power supply.

    HERE is the Dell parts web page, you should be able to get a replacement fan there.  If not have you tried a google search?
