What version is the PCI Express bus in the Dell Inspiron 530? I haven't been able to find that information anywhere on Dell or Intel's website (G33 chipset). I see on the forum that at least one person has installed a GeForce 9600 GT in their Dell Inspiron 530. Looking on Nvidia's website, it looks like the GeForce 9600 GT requires a PCI Express version 2.0 bus but I haven't been able to verify that.
I believe that is what they call being backwards compatible, it will fit in your X16 slot.
Don't ask me what that means but I know it fits. :)

According to Wikipedia, the connector hasn't changed between versions. I'm sure any x16 card would fit in the slot. The statements below also state that 2.0 devices should be able to cross compatable with v1.1 and v1.0 devices. However, the Nvidia website states that the GeForce 9600 GT bus type is PCI Express v2.0. I would hate to purchase one and find out that either it won't work or that it downclocks to operate in a slower bus.
