I have an inspiron 530s. It will not bootup, only goes as far as dell logo, then black screen with "hard disk drive failure, press F1 to continue or F2 for setup". If I press F1 it says "Boot from CD". If I press F2, it goes to BIOD CMOS setup. It has always worked good until we shut it down for a few days we were away. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I would test the hard drive using the Dell diagnostics on your Dell drivers and utilities disc.
Please post back and let me know if you need more help.
Thanks for our reply.
When I tried to boot from utility partition. I got "no boot device available" press enter ke to retry
When I tried the driver disc I got,
Boot from CD:
Diskette read failure
No boot device available, Press enter key to retry
Ok, let's take it step by step. With your drivers and utilities disc in the drive, boot the system and tap F12 to get to the boot menu. From there, select the option to boot from the CD drive.
