Dimension E520 flashing amber power button

This question is not answered

My power button started flashing amber and nothing happens (no fan, no lights, nothing).  The light flashes for several seconds after removing the power cord and starts imediately when the cord is plugged in.  It is on for about a quarter of a second and off for about 2 seconds.  Is there anything besides replacing the power supply that anyone can recommend?

  • Generally, the flashing amber power light is a bad power supply.  It can be a motherboard but in most cases it's a power supply.  The only sure way is to replace the power supply with a known good one.
