I have a Dimension E521 and recently upgraded processor and added extra RAM. It is running fine so far. As most know the design inside the PC, the CPU heat sink uses the case fan to have air pass over the fins to cool the CPU. I noticed an available plug for what I have figured to be another fan next to the heat sink. Am I correct in that conclusion? Can you add an extra fan only on next to the heat sink to help pull air across the fins? By physical position, the current fan is in front of the heat sink and pulls air into the case and pushes it across the heat sink. Can another fan be added on the other side (behind) the heat sink pulling air over the fins to help cool everything? It is not running hot now. I was just thinking that with 2 fans, one much newer than the other, I would have a backup cooling fan if the original fans stops working and would not be putting the CPU at risk.
Thanks for your time and answers.
Best Regards, G.Adams
