How to make dimension 2400 wireless

This question is not answered

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 with an Intel Celeron,

I have replaced it  with a Dell Studio XPS 8100 with Intel core i7, it has a 1525 WLAN PCie card with 11n mini-Card & external antenna

I have a DSL internet connection

I would like to move the 2400 to an upstairs bedroom and want interned access without another modem.  I guess what I want is a wireless network.

I am a computer dummy so I need a simple explanation

Thank You in advance :>)

  • To have a wireless connection you must have a wireless router at your DSL modem and a wireless adapter for your Dimension 2400.  The wireless adapter can be either a USB interfaced adapter, or an internal PCI adapter card.  There is no reason for choosing one over the other besides your preference.  The USB adapter does not require opening the computer to install a card, so if working inside your computer is a concern you might wish to consider that type.  Several companies make these devices and all seem to work about the same.
