Cannot remove cover on Dimension 8100 PC

  • I can't believe I have to ask this, but HOW does one remove the CPU cover for a Dimension 8100 PC??

Most of my other computers' cases have had side panels that just slide easily backwards once you remove a few screws. However, the Dimension 8100 has a metal plate over the back part, and no screws are visible. The plastic sides, which extend over the top of the CPU in an upside-down "L" shape, do NOT slide backwards. I can't find a area to push, lever, unscrew, pop off, etc. I don't know what to do.

Does anyone know how to remove the case? :/

    Thanks!

    Crystal

  • I am a repair technician. I can't tell you how many times I've looked like a complete idiot when It takes me forever to figure out how to get the blasted case open to fix a company's computer!! ....I know what to do once I can see the 'innerds,' but there should be some law about "all cases opening the same way!"

I just re-read your question - the link from volcano11 will show you how.

I didn't cancel this message just to let others know, sometimes getting the case open is the hardest part!

    Cordially,
