Dell Optiplex GX620 RAM Upgrade PC4200/PC6400

Answered (Verified) This question is answered

Hi,

I recently bought a cheap GX620 on ebay for my daughters first PC and it currently only has 1GB RAM.

After a quick look on ebay I came across some very cheap 1GB sticks at 5GBP each.....

Hyperam DBV1GBUD2641288 1GB PC6400 DDR2

Are these compatible with this machine as I read somewhere that generic RAM isnt compatible with some brands of computer??! seems a bit odd to me as RAM is RAM or so I thought. Also if it is compatible can I run 2 sticks of this RAM alongside the 2x512mb sticks of PC4200 that are already installed?

Any advice would be gratefully received
