I have an Insprion 560 and now the CD/DVD drive isn't recognized. I uninstalled the drive from Device Manager and reinstalled it, but it isn't listed in Explorer. However, it still have an exclamation point there. When I ran a test, it showed that the file is corrupted in the registry or not configured, but I can't seem to fix it. Any suggestions?

Thanks for answering me question. Yes, it was code 19 because of the registry be corrupted. What can I do about this to fix the registry.
Follow the link and run the fix.
We tried FixIt a few times. After that it still stated there is corruption with the registry.
That fix is NOT FOR WINDOWS 7 OR VISTA.
All fixes must be run as Administrator not a user.
To resolve this problem on a computer that is running Windows 7, use the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter. For more information about how to open this troubleshooter in Windows 7, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
Now go to the "Did this fix the problem?"section.
When you ran the FixIt utility, it should have given you a report indicating is a problem was found and whether FixIt was able to solve te problem. If FixIt found a problem but was not able to solve the problem, then you should go to this article. Scroll down until you see the section that says Let me fix it myself, and follow those instructions.
Please post back and let me know if you need more help.
Thanks for all the help, but I'm just going to have to re-image the machine back to factory settings. I know the drive has been partition and has the settings, but how is this used. I also backed up on a thumb drive, but I guess the one set by the factory should be used. How is this done.
Here is the procedure to reinstall the factory OS.
This is a bit drastic to solve your DVD drive problem, but if you re-image, that will definitely solve the problem.
