SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio Driver

  • My SoundMax audio driver is out of date and needs to be updated. The only problem is no matter where I search I can't seem to find an update. Can someone link me to a download for the update I need. If I need to give more information just tell me.
  • If you are referring to the Vista drivers, see the Dell FAQ in the Software/Vista section.

Otherwise there has never been another post about the drivers being "out of date".  Dell does not issue updates unless the original drivers do not meet their published spec.

  • Just for the record the vista version of the driver will work with Windows XP correct?
  • I looked at the Dell drivers for my E510 and the drivers for Vista ONLY state for Vista, not XP.  Judging by that I would say the Vista drivers would not work with XP.

  • Okay well I downloaded the most updated SoundMax Driver for XP and when I go to install it it says it can't find the driver, even though I clearly have the driver installed. I went and checked too and I have the SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio Driver installed. Do you have a solution for that?
  • It can't find the "driver' or it can't find the soundmax?  If it's the soundmax, try reinstalling the chipset drivers, restart Windows and then reinstall the sound drivers.  See if that helps.

  • It can't find the driver for whatever reason...
  • I don't know - never saw that before.  Try a new download - the one you have may be corrupted.  This is a "W.A.G.".

  • I've tried many downloads. I don't think it's corrupted...sigh I really just wanna play supreme commander but my sound is messed up atm >.> lol
  • You never mentioned your PC Model, however on most newer Dell's there is a restore partition on the hard drive.  You can use that and restore the PC to the original power up condition.  although a hassle, it should "fix" your PC if you have that.  CTRL/F11 at boot up accesses the restore partition.

  • I don't think it has the restore partition.

  • I think it might, but still if I restore the partition I will revert back to a more useless state. Thus I would have to update the drivers I already updated again, just so I could actually launch SupCom.
  • I have an idea, but I need to know something first. Where on the computer are drivers located by default?
  • Nevermind it doesn't matter. For whatever reason the update setup can't find the driver.
