Hey guys i recently installed vista ultimate 32-bit onto my Optiplex GX620 and i seem to be having a bit of a problem because i cant get my audio drivers to work.
I've tried and downloaded every single setup for my PC but none seem to work, they all say, 'Your hardware isnt compatible with this software.'
Any soluions anyone?
Dell only supports Windows XP. There are NO Dell drivers for Vista (or Windows 7) for this model and you need Vista specific drivers. The sound module is Soundmax ADI 198x. You can search the web and try whatever you find, but you will probably have to do what others that have PC models that are not supported by Dell, install a PCI sound card that is Vista compatible.

USB headphones work fine. Not the same as the 1/8" jack, but hey, its sound.
Vista Drivers Exist for GX620 sound as do windows 7 drivers.

Neither of these files will continue and load a sound drive. They go up to this error message "This file C:\dell\drivers\amd64\DevSetup.exe is missing!"
Seems strange it calls for an "amd64" folder?
However, I found that file put it in the folder and still no joy.
Anyone know a solution???
Microsoft has updates
DirectX June 2010 is also Highly Recommended.
Download file, Extract to a folder, RUN DXSETUP.EXE as Administrator.
The Analog Devices AD198X codec does have WHQL drivers from the Microsoft Catalog.
