My Alienware 15 arrived yesterday, I ordered two for kids going to college. One was fine and the other has problems - Camera not working and not showing in devices, Microphone not working and mystery failed USB devices in Devices.
The failed one was in the same kind of box, but not packed in as well. The good one was all nicely embedded, the failed one did not have the extras like documents and cord packed in it as nicely.
Do they send out refurbs to meet new orders?

Hello! The short answer is no. If you purchase new, you get new and if you purchase from Dell Outlet, you get like new/refurbished products. It will clearly say on the bottom that its a refurb. What likely happened and is unfortunate, the crew that packaged your 2nd laptop didn't do their jobs correctly and it got damaged during shipping or even before. I would call Dell and request a new like for like replacement.
