Forums: Any definitive solutions yet for multiple Dell desktop models that won't turn on...all with similar symptoms?

So I have been digging and digging on all over the net trying to find a definitive answer to my problem. In short, I powered down my XPS 435mt a couple of days ago for the first time in a while due to painting my home office. Now, it won't turn on unless I remove and re-seat the CMOS battery.

My 2 year old Dell Studio XPS 435MT will not power on. This happened after a brief power outage. The PC was connected to a surge protector at the time of the outage. When I try to power it up, the power button flickers amber and the fans twitch.
