Hi, Lizzy222: We're here for ya. Your current problem is different than the failed hard drive. And Vista has been a disappointment for many. My recommendation would be to either reinstall Vista, which will eliminate the immediate problem, or upgrade to Windows 7.

Hi, Steve: Speakers are like tires. They're all pretty much the same and you get what you pay for. I recommend these , which are what I use. Do you have a problem with sound, or are you sure it's the speakers?

Hi, powerchilango: What software came with your system? If you buy a BR drive, it should come with BR playing software. PowerDVD is just about the cheapest player out there for BR, only $50 or so.

My neighbor Bruno charges less than that at his pawn shop. But then again, Dell doesn't send Tony to break your thumbs when you fall behind on your payments.

Hi, d. bee: The primary objective at this point should be saving your files. So you need to run out and buy another hard drive, reinstall Windows, then reconnect your first drive to see if you can retrieve the files. Your system requires an IDE drive, aka PATA or EIDE or ATA, not SATA. The guys at Best Buy will understand. The drive should include an IDE cable with connectors for TWO drives. Your current cable can only accommodate one. Please let me know which specific items you need help with.
