    Hmmm hows that going, personally I would just buy the hinges from best buy or ebay and be done with it, I hate contacting Dell for Warrenty.

  • Recovering Product Keys

    Hey there My cousin got given an old laptop from his work and I am going to reload windows xp on it. I do not have any admin passwords to install belarc advisor, or even to access the computer, I have the harddrive plugged into a USB caddy at the moment, is there a way i can find the product keys, on that drive using my computer (for free)?

    Use nlite . Insert your XP CD into the computer, go to my computer, right click the CD and click explore select all the files (control and a) and then copy (control and c) and paste (control and v) to a folder on your desktop and call it XP. Download the standalone XP Service Pack 2 and save it to your desktop. Download the standalone XP Service Pack 3 and save it to your desktop. Open nlite, select the XP folder under your desktop. Select Service Pack under integrate: Select the service pack 2 on

    Press Fn & F2 to switch wireless off and on, first of all see if that works with your wireless card. Sometimes switching it off and on resolves many problems. Go to my computer (or computer) on the start menu and right click it and go to properties, select device manager, see if any errors are generated there. Right click the top of the list and select scan for hardware changes. See if it finds your lost devices. Power down your computer and remove AC cord and battery, remove the screw holding

    I usually get Dell branded 9 cell batteries for this unit from ebay sellers and they have been very reliable and caused no problems. This is who I got mine from http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/batterytop&ssPageName=STRK:MEFSX:SELLERID and I recommend. I may buy another 9cell battery as a backup shortly.

    Try going to control panel then to add/remove programs, uninstall any audio driver and then reboot. Then try installing the chipset driver and rebooting and then try installing this audio driver . You may also try system restore, go to start, all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore and select a restore point before your friend touched your computer if it lets you. (Your friend may have deleted they points when cleaning up your computer).
