I stopped by after a summer hiatus. What a change. Yikes! Looks like Dell has been busy in my absence. One would get the impression that the Dell Community Forums have succumb to the My Space generation. Gone are the specialized boards in which I enjoyed participating. Unfortunately I have neither the time or ambition to try and learn something new. With that said, it is best I join Predator in retirement from the boards and move on. Click here for the available drivers Dell has for your system and Windows XP. From that web page you can choose a different operating system to search if need be.

What BIOS version did you try updating to? A09 is the latest and last BIOS version Dell has released for your model. If you have that version installed then there is no other version to update it to. If the system is successfully booting and the blue screens are appearing when Windows is loading then you very possibly have a problem with Windows.

If the drive is now being detected in the BIOS then your problem more than likely with Windows. Click here for a site that offers a download of a ISO file that can be used to create a Vista Recovery CD.

Vandeherik, What BIOS version do you have currently installed? If you don't know then enter the BIOS Setup when the system is booting by pressing the F2 key when the Dell logo appears. Your currently installed BIOS version should be displayed on the BIOS page. The reason I am asking is that the A06 BIOS release for your model contained a couple of fixes related to memory. One dealt with memory size error reporting on systems with over 3 gigs installed and the other dealt with an update to the ACPI
