  • Re: Recording from system, not microphone?

I don't know why you do not have the option to use compatibility mode. "Sorry to come to you again, but I fail to find the switch to change the mic input on my Inspiron 172 0...." When you insert a plug into the computer's input jack, you shoud see a dialog box on the screen that asks whether it is a mic or a line-in that you plugged in. If you don't see the popup box then go to Start/Control Panel/ Sigmatel and check the 'allow popups' box.

Chris, This is a known issue to us on the Laptop Audio board. I think Dell is finally starting to become aware of it. Check out the thread Choppy/Skipping Audio Workarounds for some tips.

Use the same driver and instructions that I posted earlier in this thread. The instructions assume that you have Vista. They are for making the XP driver work in Vista. I have had people tell me that it works fine on the Inspiron 1720 and others told me that the result was not so great. So no telling how it will be for you until you try it out. "But it ain't the ideal.... (have to put the volume to a mini mini minimum...)" If the jack is configured for "microphone" change

  • Re: I have free Audacity(1.3). I need to figure out how to connect midi with it.

Jack, this is funny. Here is where xan517 got the idea he or she needed to use Audacity. The problem is that xan517's questions are too vague. xan517, you need to state more clearly exactly what you are trying to do. Spell it out and then fireberd will be able to tell you exactly how to accomplish it.

Jack, I know. But when I looked at the manual the keyboard does not have standard midi ports, but instead has a usb port and uses usb to transfer midi information. It requires an A-B type usb cable. Sorry about the confusion. Between the time I started to reply and then did reply there was a time lag and I missed seeing your post. xan517, You really should look at the manual , the section "Connecting External Devices/Connecting a Computer" because there is a certain process you have to

Intel ® Pentium ® M Processor, 1.3 GHz or faster depending on original configuration. Standard memory 128 MB, max memory 2 GB, so no telling what it has. It uses 3.3-V DDR SDRAM modules -- 2 slots so max is 1 GB per slot. Take a look at the documentation . Look at "Specifications" in the User's Guide.
